They provided clip-on metal conduit fittings for industries, homes and factories. These products were made adjustable to fit a wide range of size conduits. Hence the name Clipsal from ‘clips all’.

Alfred Gerard was the man behind the company. His son Geoff, who later gained the leadership of Clipsal, made major breakthroughs with the company through great innovations including the integration of thermoplastics in the 1950s.

A partnership forms – 2004

In 2004, the French group Schneider Electric secured a majority share of the company. This bold move gave them a solid market exposure to the Asian Pacific and Australian electrical accessories markets. The brand became known as Clipsal by Schneider Electric.
